Download and install
The app comes straight from this website, not from the Play Store, so Android asks you a couple of extra questions the first time. Every phone words them a little differently; the meaning is always the same. You only do this once.
Tap Download on your phone
Open this page in Chrome on the phone and tap Download for Android at the top. Chrome may warn that “this type of file can harm your device”. It says that about every app that is not from the Play Store. Tap Download anyway.
Wait for the download to finish — on mobile data it can take a minute or two.
Open the file
Tap Open in the message at the bottom of Chrome. If it has gone, open the Files (or My Files) app, go to Downloads and tap brainbit-teaching.apk.
Allow Chrome to install apps — just this once
Android says something like “For your security, your phone is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source.” Tap Settings, switch on Allow from this source, then press the back button. You land back on the install screen.
Install
Tap Install. Google Play Protect may show a box saying it does not recognise the app, because it has not come through the Play Store. Tap More details and then Install anyway. If it offers to scan the app, you can let it.
When it says App installed, tap Open. You will find the BrainBit Infotech Teaching icon — the blue BrainBit Infotech logo — with your other apps.
Use the same email and password as on the website. If you have never used the website, you can make your account here instead.
Sign in as a teacher
The first screen has two choices at the top, Teacher and Admin. Leave it on Teacher, type your Email and Password and tap Sign in.
The app keeps you signed in. You will not be asked again unless you sign out or do not open the app for about three months.
New here? Make an account
Tap New teacher? Create an account under the sign-in box. Fill in Full name, Email, Mobile number, Institute / School / Company, City, a Password (at least 8 characters) and Confirm password.
You go back to sign-in; sign in with the same email and password. We email you a link at your first sign-in. Open it and press Confirm my email within 48 hours. After that, the app shows Verify your email until you do.
Find your way around
Four tabs run along the bottom of every screen: Home, Tests, Slides and Account. Pull any list down to refresh it.
The Home screen
- The blue header greets you with your institute; Premium Plus shows a gold ★ PLUS.
- The plan and AI credit card shows your plan, the days left and your AI credit; Add money tops it up.
- New test and New deck work in the app; PDF test and Presentation open the website.
- This month counts the tests you made, your students’ attempts and your slide decks; swipe the Plans cards to compare plans.
- Recent tests and Recent slide decks show your latest work; tap See all for the full list.
- Your plan usage shows how many tests and decks you have made today and in total, against your plan’s limit.
- More on brainbit-teaching.com at the bottom links to the parts that live only on the website.
Make a class test
The same tests as on the website, with the same link for students. Students never need the app — they open the link in their phone’s browser.
Fill in the test details
Tap New test on Home (or the + button on the Tests tab) and fill in:
- Title — what students will see, e.g. Fractions – Unit test.
- Subject and Topic — start typing and pick a suggestion, or type your own. Any subject, any topic.
- Class (optional) and Difficulty (Mixed, Easy, Medium or Hard).
- Questions per student, Minutes allowed, and the Pass %.
Choose where the questions come from
From the library — questions are picked from the shared question library for that subject and topic. Tap Check library to see how many are available.
Paste from AI — for any topic the library does not have:
- Tap Copy AI prompt.
- Tap Open ChatGPT (or Gemini, or Claude), paste the prompt there and send it.
- When the AI has answered, copy its whole reply.
- Come back to BrainBit Infotech Teaching. It offers Paste the AI reply? — tap Paste.
Create the test
Tap Create test. A summary tells you how many questions went in, and lists any the app could not read. Tap OK and you land on the test’s own screen.
If a red message appears instead, it says exactly what is missing — a title, a topic, or a reply it could not read.
Open it and share it
A new test starts as a Draft, so nobody can sit it by accident before you are ready.
Switch the test to Open
Scroll down to Settings, tap Open and then Save settings. The test is now live.
In the same Settings you can also:
- Allow retakes — let a student sit it more than once.
- Students see answers — Right after submitting, or After the test closes (better if the class sits it in batches).
- Share in the teacher library — let other teachers copy it.
Send the link to the class
Tap the share icon at the top right of the test’s screen and choose WhatsApp (or any app) — the title and link go together. Or tap the copy icon next to the link and paste it wherever you like.
Students open the link, type their name, class and mobile number, and start. The Code under the link is what they type if they open the test page by hand.
Need more questions? Close it when done
Add questions tops up the pool from the library or from another AI paste — the more questions in the pool, the more each student’s paper differs from their neighbour’s.
When the class has finished, set Settings to Closed and tap Save settings. Delete test at the bottom removes it completely.
Read the results
Marks arrive as each student submits. Pull down on the results to refresh.
Students and Questions
Open the test and tap Results.
- Students — everyone who has submitted, with their percentage. Tap a name to see score, pass or fail, time taken and mobile number.
- A red flag means that student left the test screen during the test. It is a reason to look, not proof of cheating.
- Answer sheet PDF makes one student’s paper with their answers and the right ones — share it with the student or a parent.
- Questions — each question with how many answered it and the percentage who got it right. A low percentage is the topic to teach again.
- The table icon at the top shares the whole class’s marks as a CSV file that opens in Excel or Google Sheets.
Slide decks
Make a topic deck with your AI app, check it, publish it, and present it from the phone. The full walkthrough for decks on the website is in the slides guide; this is the phone version.
Make a new deck
Tap New deck. Fill in Subject, Chapter, Topic, Class (optional) and Language (English, Hindi or Hinglish), slide the number of Slides, and add Notes for the AI if you like — e.g. use cricket examples.
Then the same round trip as for tests: Copy AI prompt, open your AI app, paste, copy its whole reply, come back and Paste.
Check the reply, then save
Tap Check the reply. The app shows the deck’s title and every slide so you can look before saving. Slides with mistakes are listed, and are left out when you save. When it looks right, tap Save deck.
If it says This reply cannot be saved, read the problems underneath and ask the AI again — usually it stopped halfway or added chat around the reply.
Edit, publish, present
- Edit — tap a slide to change its text, with a live preview. Long-press and drag a slide to move it. A few slide types can be edited only on the website; the app tells you when that is so.
- Publish — makes the deck’s link work for students. Then the share icon sends the link. Unpublish stops the link working.
- Present — full screen, sideways. Swipe or tap the edges to move between slides. Connect the phone to a TV or projector with screen-cast and teach from it.
- The ⋮ menu has Make a test from the quiz slides (a ready draft test from the deck’s quiz questions), Share in the slide library, Open in browser and Delete deck.
No internet, your account, updates
Working without internet
Everything you have opened once stays on the phone. With no signal the app shows a dark strip — Offline - showing saved data — and you can still read your tests, see results you have already loaded, and present decks you have opened before. Handy in a classroom with no Wi-Fi.
Making and changing things needs internet: those buttons read Needs internet until you are back online.
The Account tab
- Signed-in devices — every phone signed in to your account. Lost a phone? Tap Sign out next to it from your new one.
- Sign out — signs this phone out.
- Delete my account — removes your name, email, mobile and sign-ins after you type your password. Your tests stay available to students under “Former teacher”.
Getting a new version
Come back to this page and tap Download for Android again — the button always gives the current version, and the line under it shows its number. Open the file and tap Update (or Install).
Do not uninstall first. Installing over the old app keeps you signed in. Your tests and decks are safe either way: they live on the website, not on the phone.
What the app can and cannot do
The app covers the everyday work. A few bigger jobs are still website only — sign in there with the same email and password.

When something does not work
It says “App not installed”.
Usually the download did not finish or there is not enough space. Delete the file from Downloads, free up some space and download it again on Wi-Fi.
If an older BrainBit Infotech Teaching app is already on the phone and this keeps happening, uninstall the old one first, then install. You will need to sign in again; nothing you made is lost.
Nothing happens when I tap the downloaded file.
Chrome is not yet allowed to install apps. Go to your phone’s Settings → Apps → Chrome → Install unknown apps (the exact path varies by phone; search Settings for “unknown apps”) and switch it on. Then tap the file again.
Play Protect says the app is unsafe or blocked it.
Play Protect warns about every app that does not come through the Play Store. Tap More details and Install anyway. Only install the file you downloaded from this page.
I have an iPhone.
There is no iPhone app yet. The website does everything the app does — open brainbit-teaching.com/tests/teacher.html in Safari, then Share → Add to Home Screen for an icon that opens it like an app.
Sign-in works but the app says “Verify your email”.
Open the link we emailed you (check spam) and press Confirm my email, then tap I have verified. Tap Resend link if you cannot find it.
My students say “This test is not open yet.”
The test is still a draft. Open it, set Settings to Open and tap Save settings.
The app could not read the AI’s reply.
Copy the AI’s whole reply, not part of it. If the AI answered with a paragraph of chat, tell it: “Give me only the JSON, nothing else.”
It says “Plan limit reached”.
You have made as many tests or decks as your plan allows for today or in total. Your plan usage on Home shows which. Daily limits reset the next day; for more, ask the admin about a bigger plan.
Something I made on the website is not in the app.
Pull the list down to refresh. The app needs a moment of internet to fetch new work; after that it is on the phone for good.
